Who is eligible to apply for the program?
Native English speakers or English speakers with a C2 level with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and a passion for teaching and cultural exchange are eligible to apply. Teaching experience is not required but is a plus.
What are the program dates?
The program typically runs from September to May, aligning with the Spanish academic calendar. Specific dates may vary slightly each year.
How do I apply for the language assistant program?
You can apply online through our website by filling out the application form and submitting the required documents.
Is there an application fee?
No, there is no application fee to apply for our program.
Do I need a visa to participate in the program?
Yes, if you do not hold an EU passport you will need a student visa to participate in the program. We will assist you with the visa application process once you are accepted into the program.
Will you help me find accommodation in Spain?
Yes, we provide assistance in finding suitable accommodation. We offer guidance and resources to help you secure housing before you arrive.
Do I need to speak Spanish to join the program?
While it is not mandatory to speak Spanish, having a basic understanding of the language can be helpful.
What kind of support will I receive upon arrival in Spain?
We provide guidance on key processes such as obtaining your TIE (Foreigner Identity Card). However, it is up to the assistants to manage their documents and settle in.
Will I receive training before starting my role as a language assistant?
Yes, we offer professional training that covers teaching techniques, classroom management, and cultural adaptation. This training takes place before you begin your placement.
What is the workload and schedule like for a language assistant?
Language assistants typically work 20-25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekends free. The schedule allows for ample time to explore Spain and immerse yourself in the culture.
What kind of ongoing support is available throughout the year?
We provide continuous support through regular check-ins and feedback meetings to ensure everything is going smoothly and to address any concerns.
Can I travel during the program?
Yes, you will have weekends and holidays free to travel and explore Spain and other European countries.
Will I receive a stipend?
Yes, all language assistants receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses in Spain.
Do I need health insurance?
Yes, health insurance is mandatory. We assist you in obtaining health insurance coverage for the duration of your stay in Spain.
Can I extend my stay in Spain after the program ends?
Extensions are possible, depending on visa regulations and school agreements. We can provide guidance on how to extend your stay if you wish to continue teaching or pursue other opportunities in Spain.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the program?
Assistants on a student visa will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the program. Additionally, language assistants from the EU have the option to complete a course and earn a certificate if they choose to do so.
